As I write this on Monday evening 2/15/2021 my 12 year old grandson Jack is in Cohen Children Medical Center in Lake Success getting prepped for his 2nd kidney transplant tomorrow morning. Born with defective kidneys at birth he underwent his first transplant when he was 16 months old - the youngest transplant in NY state at the time. Ellen and I will be travelling to the hospital in the morning. He was at our house yesterday planning to spend the night when the call came from his mom that the hospital had just gotten access to a kidney. We drove him straight home and now we all wait for the good news of a successful transplant..
